Movement Practice with Sasha Amaya
Young Lungs Dance Exchange
Second Floor, 100 Arthur
Winnipeg
23 September 2019 . 13h30-15h30
This two hour movement practice session focuses on ways we can describe the kind of movement we see and give feedback for diversifying the movement of a particular dancing body. After a group warm up, we will work with tools for describing movement patterns and suggesting new movement impulses and possibilities. The session will conclude with a short discussion about what participants discovered during the shared practice. Please bring clothes you feel comfortable moving in, a notebook, and a pen or pencil.
Sasha Amaya works in choreography, direction, performance, and installation. She is incredibly interested in the creation of new movement patterns and structures working alongside fellow dancers, as well as musicians, athletes, and architects.
About Movement Practice
“Young Lungs Dance Exchange invites all movers and thinkers to learn new skills, experience alternative pathways, and engage in dialogue at our new, free monthly Movement Practice. Each session a different guest is invited to share whatever they are inspired to share about movement practice, each bringing their own unique knowledge, experience, and level of inquiry to the floor. Movement Practice is open to all ages, levels and abilities. All folks are invited to participate in whatever way they are comfortable with, free of judgement.”
