Interdisciplinary performance company tick tock presents an all-ages workshop in which you read, hear, and feel poems as never before. Bring your favourite poem, or choose one of the poems provided, and be guided through movement and sound exercises. Whether you are a poetry expert and want to read an old poem anew, or find it difficult to connect with poetry and want to learn more, you come away with new tools to understand poetry, reading, and writing.
The workshop uses methods developed by the team who created ‘A Certain Sense of Order’, a poetic interpretation in sound and movement of a poem by Anne Sexton. After the workshop, there is the opportunity to see the piece presented with a Q&A session with creators and performers. The workshop is led by Naomi Woo, a PhD student in music at the University of Cambridge, and Sasha Amaya, a choreographic and installation artist who holds an MPhil in Architecture and Urban Studies from Clare College, Cambridge, who together form the interdisciplinary performance company tick tock. In the evening, tick tock will present A Certain Sense of Order in performance, more details of which can be found here.
No poetry, music, or movement experience required!
