Pseudo Public Space – Research Strategies in Public Space
Tue, 03.07.18 – Fri, 06.07.18, 11:00 – 17:00
Floating University Berlin, 10965 Berlin, Lilienthalstraße
WORKSHOP This workshop explores how public space can be rethought and produced through performative methodologies. We will explore and map how the city is performed and lived through observation and direct action. Throughout the workshop, we will use these performative methods to make productive disruptions or ‘constructed situations’ that tell us more about so-called ‘public spaces’.
Together we will produce and test prototypes for small scale propositions either to produce alternative publicness or critique existing pseudo public space. At the end of the workshop we will share and critically represent our propositions to open up ideas and discussions around public space.
With:
Helen Stratford (Architect, Sheffield)
Amro Yaghi (Architect, Sheffield)
in collaboration with architects and designers ON/OFF and artists Sasha Amaya and Daniel Almgren Recén.
