“In this performance we were using a Microsoft Kinect-Sensor, which is basically a stereoscopic infrared camera system, to track the position of the limbs of the dancer.
Using this information we can control various musical parameters of live electronics applied to the piano sounds like volume, pitch changes and filter settings. In this way the dancer has very precise control of how the computer modifies the sounds of the piano.
Therefore, this performance can be regarded as inverse ballet: it is not the case that the dancer dances to the music, but the dancer is co-musician and dancer at the same time.”
